Even without him, it wasn't a walk over...he carried 3 times for close to 60 yards before he got hurt...his absence hurt worst on d tho..2 of JIBs TDs were thrown on our backup at safety..he kept biting on play action. I thought TS played really well that day. Probably the best showing they had made in the playoffs ever except the 89 game with Appy.
I would agree with that assessment.

TS played their worst game vs. RC that year
TS had no line, period. I had a game on Saturday that year, so I got to go to TS that night. I remember speaking with Jamie Smith before the game, and he said they was gonna stop the game and give Kendall the ball when he got his 1000th yard. I told him, he's gotta get it first. He said he would in the first half. TS's lineman were so slow off the ball, it was pathetic. RC played behind TS's line of scrimmage all night and the DE's kept their outside contained. RC was the better team.
That is where the problem has benn at TS the past few years..the O-Line. And, no matter what you did with them, it never improved. They did pretty well vs. JIB that year tho.
I remember having the TS/Honaker game that year, and noticed how slow the line was off the ball. That was the only reason I thought RC would win that game going into it. TS didn't really have an answer for Berry, but the O-line was huge, but slower than Christmas, and RC had enough size and more overall quickness to slow Warner and Gibson down.
